Nestled in the Altura Park neighborhood, the Baca Residence is a thoughtfully reimagined Mid-Century Modern home. The project included a primary suite addition, a detached studio, and a full renovation of the existing structure. While the home’s original character was rich with appeal, it was ready for both functional upgrades and a refreshed identity. With its unique location directly across from Altura Park, creating strong visual connections to the outdoors and enhancing the home’s street presence became guiding design priorities.

The transformation began by reconfiguring the kitchen and living areas to establish a more open and connected layout. The living room now opens directly to a front courtyard, framing views of the park and inviting natural light into the interior. At the heart of the home, the kitchen anchors the living and dining spaces and connects seamlessly to the backyard through a new sliding patio door.

Exterior updates, including custom steel awnings, a steel-clad fireplace, and a procession of new concrete pavers, help create an inviting, modern arrival sequence from street to entry. Interior and exterior finishes were unified throughout, allowing the addition and renovation to blend seamlessly within the original structure.

The Baca Residence was recognized by the New Mexico Home Builders Association as both the Cover Design Winner and recipient of Best Kitchen Design.
